THE COVENANT EDUCATIONAL

I destinatari naturali del patto educativo sono i genitori. L’obiettivo del patto educativo, in
sostanza, è quello di impegnare le famiglie a condividere con la scuola i nuclei fondanti
dell’azione educativa. La scuola dell’autonomia può svolgere efficacemente la sua
funzione educativa soltanto se è in grado di instaurare una sinergia virtuosa, oltre che con
il territorio, tra i soggetti che compongono la comunità scolastica: il dirigente scolastico, il
personale della scuola, i docenti, gli studenti ed i genitori.
Il “patto” vuole essere dunque uno strumento innovativo attraverso il quale declinare i
reciproci rapporti, i diritti e i doveri che intercorrono tra l’istituzione scolastica e la famiglia.
La norma si limita ad introdurre questo strumento pattizio e a definire alcune
caratteristiche generali, lasciando alla libertà delle singole istituzioni scolastiche autonome
il compito di definire contenuti e modelli applicativi che devono scaturire dalle esigenze
reali e dall’esperienza concreta delle scuole, non potendo essere astrattamente enucleati
a livello centrale.
Ad esempio, a fronte del ripetersi di episodi di bullismo o di vandalismo, ritenendosi di
orientare prioritariamente l’azione educativa al rispetto dell’ “altro”, sia esso persona o
patrimonio, la scuola opererà su un doppio versante:
- da un lato potrà intervenire sulla modifica del regolamento d’istituto individuando le
sanzioni più adeguate,
- dall’altro, si avvarrà del Patto educativo di corresponsabilità, per rafforzare la
condivisione da parte dei genitori delle priorità educative e del rispetto dei diritti e dei
doveri di tutte le componenti presenti nella scuola.
L’azione della scuola tesa alla sottoscrizione del Patto potrà costituire occasione per la
diffusione della conoscenza della parte disciplinare del regolamento d’istituto (così come
degli altri “documenti” di carattere generale che fondano le regole della comunità

Altro documento molto interessante è, più recente, quello riguardante l’insegnamento di
Cittadinanza e Costituzione che afferma come “i rapporti tra scuola e famiglia sono la
prima cerniera che connette il mondo degli affetti familiari con quello delle relazioni e delle
istituzioni sociali, ossia il mondo del privato con quello del pubblico.”
Essendo riconosciuta dalla Costituzione, che responsabilizza l’intera Repubblica nei
confronti della genesi e dell’esercizio dei suoi compiti, la famiglia dovrebbe essere anche il
primo ambiente in cui si prende coscienza dei crediti e dei debiti che abbiamo nei confronti
di questo “patto fondativo”, stipulato da generazioni passate, a beneficio e per conto anche
delle presenti e delle future.
Ed è questo il vero fondamento del “patto educativo di corresponsabilità” fra scuola e
genitori, richiesto dalla normativa force. In this perspective, the responsibility
